Marguerite Thorpe – the internationally acclaimed beauty therapist – has built her successful business in Bournemouth by maintaining a standard of excellence throughout her career. Undoubtedly, her medical background, many members of her immediate family practice medicine and she herself initially trained as a nurse, has instilled in her the need to care for the complete well-being of her clients. For Marguerite, beauty is not just 'skin-deep' but relates essentially to the whole person. Her mantra is that you cannot have beauty without good health. For this reason, she does not only give advice about the use of skin care products but includes recommendations for lifestyle and alimentation in her consultations.

The products she chooses, her standard of staff training, her business acumen, together with the loyal support she enjoys from her husband Peter and her son Alan who run the finance and marketing aspects, all contribute to the outstanding success she enjoys. Marguerite's own delightful personality and Gallic charm are a bonus for staff and clients alike but one of the foremost factors of her undoubted success is the chance discovery she made in the early 1980's of the effectiveness of cellular therapy.

At the time, Marguerite realised that although still in its infancy, there was an insatiable appetite among the public for health and beauty. She began to plan ahead, opening her avant-garde luxurious salon offering the facilities of a health farm.

In order to gain more knowledge about every new development in the beauty world, she travelled extensively in Switzerland, Canada, Holland, Belgium, the USA and in her homeland France. She also obtained higher qualifications, including the advanced CIDESCO diploma. Marguerite has been actively involved in the country's leading beauty therapy organisations and was invited on to the council of BABTAC which, Marguerite says, she considered a great honour, thoroughly enjoying her term of office and meeting many interesting people.

In 1997, Marguerite was delighted to be appointed a Fellow of BABTAC.

As her reputation as a beauty therapist grew, Marguerite felt she wanted to gain more knowledge. Having met Monsieur Albert Laporte, the well-known French biologist and gerontologist in France in 1982, she learned of his new scientific approach to beauty through cellular therapy. Monsieur Laporte had first discovered how to improve skin conditions and appearance whilst working with severe burns and accident cases. This had led him to look at ways of introducing this concept to the world of beauty and, after several years of research, he discovered a method of stabilising and preserving amino acids in creams which could be used for health and beauty treatments and by clients at home.

Marguerite was so impressed by all she saw and heard that she approached Monsieur Laporte and was delighted to be given sole representation in the UK. Marguerite launched GERnetic with Monsieur Laporte in person at the BABTAC convention in London in 1983. This excellent working relationship continues very successfully to this day.
